KADOKAWA Recalls and Halts Distribution of Works by Illustrator Gaou Following Misconduct Reports — “Guild Receptionist” Series to Be Re-Released with New Illustrator

KADOKAWA has officially announced on July 23 that it will cease publication and distribution of all works associated with illustrator Gaou, following a series of misconduct reports. The illustrator had worked on the light novel series I May Be a Guild Receptionist, But I'll Solo Any Boss to Clock Out on Time (JP: ギルドの受付嬢ですが、残業が嫌なのでボスをソロ討伐しようと思います), published by Dengeki Bunko.

In a statement released on its official website, KADOKAWA explained, “Regarding the reports concerning illustrator Gaou, we have confirmed with the individual directly, and they have acknowledged the facts.”

The publisher emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, “We take this matter very seriously. After consulting internally and externally, we have decided on the following course of action concerning the illustrator’s removal and handling of the relevant publications.”

The announced measures are as follows:
- Selfe Girl: The Art of Gaou (Print Edition): To be recalled and discontinued; digital version to be removed from distribution.
- I May Be a Guild Receptionist, But I'll Solo Any Boss to Clock Out on Time, Volumes 1–8 (Dengeki Bunko): Both print and digital editions to be recalled and discontinued. The series will be re-released with a new illustrator (release date TBD).
- Hallelujah Vamp, Volumes 1–3 (Dengeki Bunko): Digital editions to be removed from distribution.

The controversy began when a YouTuber reported allegations that Gaou had committed indecent acts involving a minor. These allegations were subsequently picked up by multiple media outlets.
