Though I Am an Inept Villainess Releases New Character Visuals of Huang Lingling & Zhu Huiyue After Body Swap

The upcoming TV anime Though I Am an Inept Villainess: Tales of the Butterfly-Rat Body Swap in the Court has released new character visuals of its two main heroines, Huang Lingling and Zhu Huiyue, on the 15th. The illustrations depict the two after their bodies have been swapped.

The series is based on the novel by Satsuki Nakamura with illustrations by YukiKana, published under Ichijinsha Novels. A manga adaptation by Hide Oyagi is currently serialized in Monthly Comic ZERO-SUM. The novel has received the "Seymour Minna ga Erabu 2023 E-Comic Awards – Light Novel Division Prize" and ranked No.1 in BookLive’s Annual Women’s Light Novel Ranking 2023. The manga has also earned recognition, with Zhu Huiyue nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Magademy Awards 2023 and the work winning the Rakuten Kobo E-Book Award 2024 (Must-Read Comics Category).

The story follows two girls with starkly contrasting lives: Huang Lingling, a beautiful, intelligent, and beloved young woman known as "His Highness’ Butterfly," and Zhu Huiyue, who is consumed by inferiority complexes and despised by all as a villainess for her malicious behavior. Their fates intertwine in a dramatic court intrigue where their bodies are unexpectedly swapped, turning their lives upside down.

The new visuals, drawn by character designer Ai Kikuchi, showcase their appearances after the pivotal body swap, offering fans a first glimpse of this transformative moment.
