Netflix has announced that Steel Ball Run: JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, the latest installment of Hirohiko Araki’s long-running manga series, will be streamed worldwide. Returning staff members from previous anime adaptations have reunited to take on production.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Series Background
The JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure manga began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1986 under Shueisha. The series has surpassed 120 million copies in circulation, earning recognition for its unique characters, inventive sound effects, and memorable dialogue. Currently, Part 9 titled The JOJOLands is being serialized in Ultra Jump. The franchise has expanded into anime, video games, stage productions, and a live-action film.
Steel Ball Run Story and Characters
The newly adapted Steel Ball Run is set in the United States at the end of the 19th century. The story follows a transcontinental race conducted on horseback. The protagonist, Johnny Joestar, is a former prodigy jockey who lost the use of his legs. He teams up with the mysterious outlaw Gyro Zeppeli, and together they take on the grueling race across North America.

Director Yasuhiro Kimura shared his thoughts on the project, expressing excitement at leading the anime adaptation. He noted that the entire staff feels the same passion and is putting their energy into the daily production. Kimura added that he looks forward to sharing the work with viewers and hopes to run through this journey together with them.
