New Super Mario Galaxy Movie Set in Outer Space to Premiere in April 2026

The new Super Mario Galaxy Movie from Illumination and Nintendo will take audiences into outer space when it opens in April 2026. The film is officially titled The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and will premiere in Japan on April 24, 2026.

In the United States and many other regions, the release is scheduled for April 3, 2026, with additional countries and regions following throughout the same month.
The returning voice cast includes Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

The production team reunites with Chris Meledandri of Illumination and Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo as producers, alongside directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic. Matthew Fogel will again handle the screenplay. The project is co-financed by Universal Pictures and Nintendo, with Universal Pictures distributing worldwide.

The previous The Super Mario Bros. Movie, released in April 2023, was a massive box office success, surpassing 14 billion yen in revenue. Adapted from Nintendo’s beloved game franchise, it followed Mario and Luigi, two plumbers from New York, as they stumbled into a magical new world and confronted danger through the power of brotherhood. Universal Pictures and Nintendo jointly financed and distributed the film globally.
