Trailer Featuring Theme Song for AS ONE Finally Released – JO1’s Ruki Shiroiwa Performs “Meguriboshi”

The long-awaited trailer featuring the theme song for the animated feature film As One, now in theaters, has been released. Not only does Ruki Shiroiwa voice the protagonist, he also performs the theme song, "Meguriboshi (JP: 巡星)," under his solo name, RUKI.

As One

The film is based on the arcade game Starwing Paradox. While retaining the game’s setting and worldview, director Kobun Shizuno and his creative team developed an original story with new characters. Yoshiyuki Sadamoto handled character design, as he did for the original.

Shiroiwa plays You, a high school student on Earth who dreams of becoming a musician while grappling with an uncertain future. "Meguriboshi" marks his first film theme song, which he self-produced. He commented, "After watching the movie, I believe people will feel the song truly matches the story." The music video for "Meguriboshi," released on YouTube, has already surpassed one million views, raising anticipation for the song and film alike.

The new trailer, which runs for about four minutes, blends unreleased scenes with the theme song. It showcases dramatic sequences, including Vigo launching into space with his Pluguard unit to remove debris, Rako commandeering a Pluguard to rescue Vigo, and a spectacular car chase in which Rako becomes a fugitive. Viewers also catch a glimpse of You and Rako’s initial dreamlike encounter, where their consciousness merges through Real Ride with the energy source, "Hoshinochi," as well as the intense battle between Air Real and Pluguard. The trailer highlights the emotional and narrative depth at the core of the film.

Note: Some character and terminology translations remain tentative pending official confirmation.
