The story takes place just before Shinichi Kudo becomes Conan Edogawa due to the Black Organization’s drug. High school detective Shinichi visits Beika Aquarium with his childhood friend Ran Mouri. Their goal is to test out a plan called the “Aquarium Surprise Reunion Love Revival Operation,” aimed at reconciling Ran’s estranged parents, Kogoro Mouri and Eri Kisaki. However, the pleasant outing is quickly overshadowed.

Sensing an unusual tension in the crowd ahead, Shinichi suspects a murder has occurred and instructs Ran to call for staff. When Ran asks how he noticed without hearing a scream, Shinichi replies, “It was the smell.” Guided by the scent of blood, he moves to the crime scene and employs all his senses to identify the culprit. Thus begins the deduction drama of the crimson high school detective, which leads to “another reconnaissance” connected to that fateful day.

To commemorate the broadcast, a key visual has been released featuring Shinichi and Ran enjoying the aquarium. The artwork captures the emotional and innocent closeness of the two before they began dating. This visual will also be displayed at the Yomiuri TV booth during Kyoto International Manga and Anime Fair 2025 (Kyomafu) on September 20 and 21.

At Kyomafu, additional exhibits include “Heroes of Ishinomaki” in collaboration with Miyagi Prefecture, a crossover project with True Samurai Legend YAIBA commemorating the Gosho Aoyama Hour, and a special display of handwritten survey responses from creator Gosho Aoyama, who answered the largest number of questions in the program Manga Numa.
