【30th anniversary】 New Story Released 30 Years After G Gundam: "Gaiden: Heaven and Earth Astonishment" Covers Events Before the 13th Gundam Fight Finals
To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the TV anime "Mobile Fighter G Gundam," the first episode of the new story "Mobile Fighter G Gundam Gaiden: Heaven and Earth Astonishment," written by Chief Director Yasuhiro Imagawa, has been released today, the 5th, on the official "G Gundam" website. This new narrative, which depicts events not covered in the original series that took place before the 13th Gundam Fight Finals, will continue to be released every Friday at 5 PM.
"Mobile Fighter G Gundam" originally aired from 1994 to 1995 and became notable for its unique premise, where fighters representing various countries use Gundams to compete in the "Gundam Fight," a martial arts tournament to decide world supremacy. It stood out from other "Gundam" series, which traditionally depicted the "Universal Century" timeline, by introducing an alternate universe. This marked a significant turning point for the Gundam franchise.
To avoid large-scale wars in space, countries proposed the Gundam Fight, where representatives fight using Gundams on Earth, with the winning nation gaining control for the next four years. The 13th Gundam Fight tournament, featuring the protagonist Domon Kasshu and his struggles and achievements, is the setting for this new side story, now told 30 years later.
"Mobile Fighter G Gundam Gaiden: Heaven and Earth Astonishment" Synopsis
