In recent years, webtoons produced in Japan have been gaining significant traction. Earlier this year, WEBTOON Entertainment Inc., the parent company of LINE Manga, went public on NASDAQ, further expanding its global presence. In June 2024, "The Reason for the Twin Lady’s Disguise" (available on LINE Manga) achieved the second-highest monthly sales on the US WEBTOON platform.

"The Reason for the Twin Lady’s Disguise" is a work by the webtoon studio Sorajima, which releases the largest number of original works in Japan. The series began its pre-release on LINE Manga on August 15, 2022. The story follows the protagonist, Linali Lowreis, who was executed due to a plot by the tyrant crown prince. Three years later, she is reincarnated and decides to disguise herself as her twin brother, Liam, and enrolls in an academy. It is an alternate-world school love story involving a cross-dressing noble lady who must keep her secret hidden and a crown prince who cannot express his true feelings. Since its serialization began, it ranked 14th in the "New Works of 2022" category in the "LINE Manga 2022 Annual Ranking" and has amassed 90 million views in Japan as of the end of June 2024.

The English version, "The Reason for the Twin Lady’s Disguise," was released on US WEBTOON on May 27 and ranked second in monthly sales for June. This achievement marks the first time a domestic webtoon on LINE Manga has reached such a high ranking.

In addition to "The Reason for the Twin Lady’s Disguise," other Japanese webtoons have also made it into the top 10 trend rankings on US WEBTOON, indicating that this trend will likely continue to grow.
