[MHA Movie Premiere] Meru Nukumi Ecstatic Over Dream Role in My Hero Academia Movie; Reveals Favorite Character

Model and actress Meru Nukumi, known as "Meruru," attended the Japan premiere of the fourth My Hero Academia movie, "My Hero Academia THE MOVIE: You're Next," held in Tokyo on the 24th. The movie is set to be released on August 2nd.

Joining her on stage were Daiki Yamashita (Izuku Midoriya), Nobuhiko Okamoto (Katsuki Bakugo), Kenta Miyake (All Might/Dark Might), and guest voice actor Mamoru Miyano (Giulio Gandini), each greeting the audience in their character’s voice and mannerisms. Following their greetings, Nukumi, who was advised against using any "signature lines" to avoid spoilers, exclaimed with a smile, "It's difficult to follow that up!" and cheerfully said, "Good evening!"

A self-proclaimed fan of the original manga, Nukumi shared that her favorite character is Minoru Mineta, who was not present at the event, eliciting laughter from the audience. She reminisced about her excitement during the recording process, saying, "The voice acting was almost complete, and I was just so excited! Honestly, it was hard to focus on the recording, but I learned a lot about the process and was deeply moved."

Describing voice acting as "really difficult," Nukumi praised her co-stars, saying, "Everyone is truly amazing. I kept wondering how they manage to produce those voices." Miyake complimented her performance, saying, "You were able to do it, weren't you? Really impressive," while Miyano enthusiastically added, "This girl is incredible!" showcasing her talent to the fans.

The original manga of My Hero Academia has surpassed 100 million copies in circulation and began serialization in 'Weekly Shonen Jump' in July 2014. The first season of the TV anime started in April 2016, and there have been three previous film adaptations. It was announced on the 'Jump PRESS' YouTube program on the 24th of last month that the manga will conclude in the combined 36th and 37th issue of the magazine, released on August 5th.

The upcoming film, the first in three years, features an original story overseen by the manga's creator Kohei Horikoshi, who also provided the character designs. Set in the same timeline as the ongoing seventh season of the anime, the story unfolds in a society overrun by villains who have escaped from detention facilities. As the final battle between heroes, including the protagonist Izuku Midoriya (Deku), and villains approaches, a major incident that shakes the world ensues.

The Japan premiere was attended by Daiki Yamashita (voice of Izuku Midoriya), Nobuhiko Okamoto (voice of Katsuki Bakugo),Kenta Miyake (voice of All Might/Dark Might), guest voice actors Mamoru Miyano (voice of Giulio Gandini), and Meru Nukumi (voice of Anna Shelbino).
