[Anison Event] MBS Anime Fes Participating Works Announced: Jujutsu Kaisen, Witch from Mercury, Tokyo Revengers, WIND BREAKER
The lineup for the large-scale anime event MBS Anime Fes 2025 has been partially revealed. The event will take place on January 18th and 19th, 2025, at the Kobe World Memorial Hall, marking the first time the festival has been held in seven years since 2018.
On DAY1, Jujutsu Kaisen, which aired its first season in October 2020 and its second season in July 2023, and WIND BREAKER, which aired its TV anime in April this year, will participate. On DAY2, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, which aired Season 1 starting in October 2022 and Season 2 in April 2023, as well as Tokyo Revengers, which aired its first season in April 2021, second season in January 2023, and third season in October 2023, are confirmed to join.
MBS Anime Fes originally began in 2005 as an outdoor festival at the Nishinomaru Garden of Osaka Castle. The event is a triad of anime scenes, live voice acting performances, and theme song concerts featuring anime footage, voice actors, and artists. After a nearly 10-year hiatus, it returned in 2014 and was subsequently held in 2015, 2017, and 2018, with a total of five editions.
The festival has previously attracted hit series from each era, such as the Gundam TV series, Macross F, Attack on Titan, Fullmetal Alchemist, Haikyu!!, and TIGER & BUNNY. Additionally, surprise appearances from works like Gintama have thrilled the 10,000 in-person attendees and 10,000 live viewing audiences across theaters nationwide.
Though the festival hasn’t been held since 2018, it is making a comeback to commemorate its 20th anniversary. The concept remains unchanged: "A one-of-a-kind anime event that can only be seen at this moment and will remain in your memory!" As with previous editions, there will be no live streaming or Blu-ray releases of the event.
For the first time, the festival will expand to a 2-day format and be held at Kobe World Memorial Hall instead of Osaka Castle Hall. 20 years since the first edition, the festival promises to bring fans a "dream collaboration and a fleeting feast" that transcends time, generations, and venues.
