Akira Toriyama’s Original Anime "SAND LAND: THE SERIES" Unveils Trailer & Key Visual for New Chapter
On March 1, the manga artist Akira Toriyama, who passed away suddenly, had originally created "SAND LAND: THE SERIES," which is currently being exclusively streamed on Disney+. On April 10, the key visual and trailer for the new chapter "The Angelic Hero" were released.
This work is an anime adaptation of Toriyama's gem of a short manga, "SAND LAND," published in "Weekly Shonen Jump" in 2000, and made into an anime movie in 2023. It includes previously unreleased scenes in the "Prince of Demons" chapter and a new story "The Angelic Hero" chapter, which Toriyama had devised over 20 years following the movie version. It's an exhilarating adventure fantasy featuring the pure-hearted yet mischievous demon prince Belzebub, the justice-driven human sheriff Rao, and their watchful thief companions. The story is packed with Toriyama's charm, including Belzebub's cool heroism and the dynamic action and tank battle scenes that have become a talking point.
The newly released key visual depicts the most powerful demon, Belzebub, and the most vicious angel, Muniuel, with the Aquaesium ore, which generates massive energy, shining between them. The Aquaesium, which played a key role in the "Prince of Demons" chapter already streamed, raises curiosity about its impact in the new chapter.
Additionally, the trailer also showcased the action-packed scenes of Belzebub, Rao, and Thief, as well as General Ale and the Swimmers from the "Prince of Demons" chapter. The tank action that made headlines in the "Prince of Demons" chapter has been further intensified. The footage contrasts the angel Muniuel, who deceives the people with the words, "The hero is always with you!" and Prince Belzebub's outcry against Muniuel's relentless attacks that involve innocent people, saying, "Attacking with so many... demons are far better!"
