On the 25th, Animate announced its plan to open a store in the “Sora Plaza Area” at the 2025 Japan International Expo.

Animate is a specialty store chain for anime, comics, and games, with 124 stores across Japan and 12 more in countries and regions such as China, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and the United States. The chain specializes in selling anime, comic, and game-related products.

The "Sora Plaza Area" at the expo is located near the international pavilions and offers facilities where visitors can enjoy food from around the world, as well as shops focusing on sustainable development goals (SDGs) and the realization of a future society. This area promotes diversity and inclusion. In addition to selling anime merchandise, Animate will also feature a pop-up space within the store, which will showcase iconic Japanese anime works and related products, rotating themes regularly over the course of the expo.

In their announcement, Animate commented, “As Japan’s leading anime shop, we aim to create a store that can be enjoyed by customers from both Japan and abroad.”
