The original Prince of Tennis manga (TeniPuri), which ran in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1999 to 2008, serves as the basis for this anime series. Its sequel, The New Prince of Tennis, has been serialized in Jump Square since 2009. The story follows the protagonist, Ryoma Echizen, and his growth alongside his teammates. The last The New Prince of Tennis TV anime aired in March 2012. After a 10-year hiatus, The New Prince of Tennis U-17 World Cup returned to television in 2022, continuing the story after the 2014 OVA series The New Prince of Tennis OVA vs Genius 10. The first match of the semifinals, S3 (Singles 3), pits Oni from Japan against Q.P., Germany's No. 2 player. Both competitors exchange precise shots and engage in a fierce power struggle. Oni, known for his overwhelming strength, exerts immense pressure on Q.P. However, Q.P., who considers the crowd's cheers as noise, coldly admonishes the umpire—a reflection of his emotionless playing style, rooted in his childhood experiences when he first began playing tennis.
