"Godzilla-1.0" Streaming on Prime Video Starting May 3; "Shin Godzilla: Ortho" and All 30 Japanese Live-Action Godzilla Films Also Available Unlimited
Prime Video will exclusively stream "Godzilla-1.0," the winner of the Visual Effects Award at the 96th Academy Awards, starting May 3.
Produced to commemorate the 70th anniversary of "Godzilla," which first appeared in 1954 and has since captivated and shocked audiences around the world, "Godzilla-1.0" is set in post-war Japan. It portrays the sudden appearance of Godzilla attempting to reduce innocent people from zero to less, and the desperate struggle of humans fighting against Godzilla. The film has grossed 7.3 billion yen and attracted 4.89 million viewers (as of April 14, 2024, including "Godzilla-1.0/C").
Directed, scripted, and visual effects managed by Takashi Yamazaki, this film achieved a historic feat by being the first Japanese film to win the Visual Effects Award at the 96th Academy Awards.
In conjunction with the exclusive launch of "Godzilla-1.0," Prime Video will also exclusively stream "Shin Godzilla: Ortho," a monochrome version of the blockbuster "Shin Godzilla," scripted and directed by Hideaki Anno and directed and special effects directed by Shinji Higuchi. Furthermore, the original 1954 "Godzilla" and the second film "Godzilla Raids Again," along with all 30 Godzilla Japanese live-action films, will be available unlimited. (Monochrome derivative works are not counted in the total).
