The characters Kitaro’s Father and Mizuki from the film Kitaro Tanjou: GeGeGe no Nazo will appear on the cover of a special edition of anan, set for release on the 13th. Illustrated by character designer Toruco Yatabe, the cover features the two in stylish, color-coordinated kimonos, imagining what a “photoshoot” with Kitaro’s Father and Mizuki might look like.

Exclusive Interview and Art Inside

Inside the magazine, voice actors Toshihiko Seki (Kitaro’s Father) and Hidenobu Kiuchi (Mizuki) discuss their characters’ bond, describing them as “soulmates” with a deep connection that transcends time and species. Additionally, interviews with Yatabe and director Go Koga reflect on their favorite scenes in the retake version of the film.

The special issue also includes a premium pin-up spread of Kitaro’s Father, Mizuki, Ryuga Sayo, Tokiya Nagata, Kitaro with Medama Oyaji, and Kitaro’s Mother.

Based on the sixth season of the GeGeGe no Kitaro anime (2018–2020), the film explores the mysterious origins of Kitaro, with both Kitaro’s Father and Mizuki sharing the lead roles. Praised for its emotional depth and dynamic action scenes, the movie earned ¥2.79 billion at the box office, with 1.95 million viewers, and has been nominated for prestigious awards, including the 47th Japan Academy Prize for Best Animation and at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
