Based on the hit manga by Jun Mayuzuki (After the Rain), which has surpassed 1.4 million copies in circulation, the anime unfolds in the nostalgic Kowloon Walled City. Reiko Kujirai, who works at a real estate agency in Kowloon, harbors a quiet crush on her senior colleague, Hajime Kudou. One day, she comes across an old photograph and discovers that Kudou once had a fiancée who looked exactly like her. As lost memories, the identity of another self, and the hidden secrets of Kowloon begin to intertwine across past, present, and future, a love story begins to unravel the mysteries. Haruka Shiraishi voices Reiko Kujirai, and Tomokazu Sugita voices Hajime Kudou.

The creditless ending sequence, set to the ending theme “Koi no Retronym” by mekakushe, opens with a vivid scene of goldfish swimming through the streets of Kowloon. The visuals are seen through the eyes of the goldfish Kudou gifted to Reiko in Episode 1, showing lively daily life in Kowloon and the interactions between Reiko and Kudou. With curtains swaying in the summer heat and soft hues capturing fleeting emotions, the ending creates a dreamy, romantic atmosphere.
Yuriko Yamaguchi has been confirmed to play “Kujirai B.” She shared a heartfelt message.

Yuriko Yamaguchi’s Comment
When I was young, I spent about two weeks in Hong Kong for work.
In contrast to its glittering million-dollar night view,
the dim, nostalgic, and chaotic atmosphere of the back alleys felt deeply alive.
“The flickering lights, the musty alleyways—each detail felt achingly familiar.”
Reading this work brought back all those memories, and I instantly became a fan.
Kudou-san, Reko-pon, and Kujirai B—
I hope I can blend seamlessly into the world that everyone envisions!
