The upcoming series Ultraman Omega will begin broadcasting on TV Tokyo’s 6-station network starting July 5, 2025 at 9:00 AM (JST). As part of its weekly Thursday morning updates, the production has officially announced Haruto Yoshida (24) in the lead human role of Kosei Hoshimi, along with details about the new partner kaiju, Meteor Kaiju.

Set on a version of Earth where no heroes or monsters exist, the story begins when a mysterious alien falls from the "sky"—a being who possesses the crimson space boomerang known as the Omega Slugger. This ultimate being, later named Ultraman Omega, has no memory of his past and takes human form, receiving the name Sorato. Fascinated by his first interactions with human life, Sorato begins to observe Earthlings closely. As memories of the word “kaiju” resurface, gigantic creatures begin to appear, prompting Sorato to transform into Ultraman Omega and fight with speed, sharpness, and overwhelming strength.

Kosei Hoshimi and the Bond with Omega

Kosei Hoshimi is an ordinary young man who works as a live-in warehouse assistant while searching for his future path. His encounter with the memory-lost Sorato marks the beginning of a fateful bond. As Sorato shows pure curiosity toward every phenomenon on Earth, Kosei, with his natural kindness, helps guide him—eventually becoming involved in the kaiju incidents.

Kosei is also the one who gives Sorato his human name and, over time, gains the ability to control a supporting kaiju ally called Meteor Kaiju. Together, they fight side by side, deepening the connection between human and alien in a compelling buddy dynamic. This emotional core—“Why does Ultraman protect Earth?”—is the driving force behind Ultraman Omega.

Haruto Yoshida’s Career and Comment

Actor Haruto Yoshida began his career as a child actor after being inspired by heroes in foreign films. He gained critical acclaim for his role in Koizumi Takashi’s period film A Samurai Chronicle and has since built a reputation as a talented young actor in film, drama, and theater.

New Hero: Ultraman Omega

Ultraman Omega is the giant of light into whom Sorato Ookida transforms. He wields the crimson Omega Slugger, a cosmic boomerang, and carries the mysterious pendant Omega Meteor. When Sorato calls upon his inner will, the Slugger materializes in his hand. By loading the Omega Meteor into his chest, radiant wings unfold and he is enveloped in light, transforming into the red giant.

His signature pose, the Omega Scope, involves silently extending his hand toward someone while observing them closely—whether in Sorato’s form or as Ultraman Omega. His physical stats are classic Ultraman:

Finishing Move: Reticrute Beam, fired by clasping both hands together.
