To commemorate the release of the final volume of MF Ghost on June 6, a special newspaper campaign ran in both The Asahi Shimbun and The Yomiuri Shimbun.

Shuichi Shigeno drew his first new illustration in 11.5 years, featuring the legendary Project D trio—Takumi Fujiwara, Keisuke Takahashi, and Ryosuke Takahashi—and their iconic cars: the Toyota AE86, Mazda RX-7 FD3S, and Mazda RX-7 FC3S.

The illustration was split between the two newspapers, requiring readers to place both pages together to complete the full image.

Regional Editions Highlight Real-World Car Culture

In Gunma Prefecture, where Takumi’s home and Project D’s base are located, the ad includes a special edition with Bunta Fujiwara and his Subaru Impreza WRX STI.

Additionally, in eight other prefectures tied to the manga’s iconic battle locations, unique “Project D Expedition Battle Ads” were published. These regional ads allowed fans to relive legendary racing scenes in real-world locales, making for a total of 10 distinct regional versions of the campaign.
