The spotlight falls first on the Night Fury—a dragon shrouded in myth. Cloaked in jet-black and capable of flying at incomprehensible speeds, it had long been feared despite never being truly seen. In this film, its bond with Hiccup bridges the chasm between humans and dragons, once sworn enemies.
Joining the Night Fury are a host of other unique dragons:
Deadly Nadder: A noble creature adorned with vibrant blue scales reminiscent of the aurora, complemented by sharp, golden-yellow spines.
Gruesome Gronckle: Endearing with its mismatched tiny wings and large, rounded body, featuring adorably beady eyes.
Monstrous Nightmare: Ferocious in both look and action, it terrorizes foes by engulfing itself in flames, thanks to its powerful jaws and inner fire.
Hideous Zippleback: A two-headed marvel—one head releases gas while the other ignites it, creating explosive bursts through their coordinated teamwork.
Each dragon bursts with personality and realism, making it clear this adaptation is no mere rehash of its animated predecessor.
The posters also spotlight not only the dragons but their connections to the characters. The bond between Hiccup and Toothless reflects a powerful unity, while the pairing of brave warrior Astrid (played by Nico Parker) and the Deadly Nadder radiates mysterious elegance. Other young Vikings and their dragons also feature prominently, set against the majestic backdrop of Berk Island, reinforcing that this is a fully immersive live-action reimagining.
