Pokémon Concierge Returns on September 4 with New Episodes—Ex-Boyfriend Appears, Theme Song by Tatsuro Yamashita

Netflix and Pokémon have announced that four new episodes (Episodes 5–8) of the original stop-motion animation Pokémon Concierge will be released exclusively worldwide on September 4. Alongside the release date, a new teaser trailer, key visual, and episode stills have been unveiled, all evoking a breezy, resort-like atmosphere.

The trailer offers a glimpse of beloved characters Haru and Psyduck, along with new additions including Sealeo, Shinx, Luxray, and Arcanine—each bringing fresh energy to the island resort. Viewers also get a first look at Kent, a young man who appears to be Haru’s ex-boyfriend, voiced by Keita Machida, and Dan, a veteran sailor accompanied by Sealeo for over 15 years, voiced by Kazuhiro Yamaji.

The new theme song, titled “Onomatopoeia ISLAND”, is an original composition written specifically for the series by legendary Japanese musician Tatsuro Yamashita.

In the first season (Episodes 1–4), Haru—a woman once overwhelmed by work—begins a new journey as a concierge at the Pokémon Resort, gradually rediscovering her true self through interactions with Pokémon guests. The new episodes continue Haru’s story as she grows more confident in her role, navigating both lighthearted misadventures and meaningful moments alongside a vibrant cast of Pokémon.

One day, Kent suddenly appears at the resort with Arcanine in tow. A high-performing city worker, Kent’s unexpected visit raises questions: What brings him here—and what will become of his relationship with Haru? Meanwhile, Dan and his long-time partner Sealeo also arrive at the resort. Though Dan shares many cheerful moments with Haru, his occasional pensive expressions hint at a hidden burden.

The story once again showcases Haru’s warm and sincere approach to guests, with Psyduck and other Pokémon offering plenty of charm.

Commenting on the theme song, Tatsuro Yamashita shared:
“I’m honored to be part of this beautiful project—Pokémon collaborating with Dwarf Studios on Netflix. The animation is crafted with incredible effort, with only four seconds of footage completed per day per team. I did my best to create a song worthy of that passion. To me, the essence of Pokémon can be summed up in the word ‘onomatopoeia.’ I wrote this song with a wish to bring a little light to uncertain times.”
