“Demon Slayer” Reveals Special Footage from the Akaza Arc — The Fierce Battle with Rengoku, Told from the Characters’ Perspectives

The animated film Demon Slayer: Demon Slayer – Infinity Castle Arc: Part 1 – Akaza Returns has been in theaters since July 18. A special video titled To the Infinity Castle: The Akaza Arc has also been released on the official YouTube channel.

Released in celebration of the Infinity Castle Arc film, this special video was featured during the Demon Slayer: Seven Special Nights broadcast. It offers a look back on the story from the characters’ perspectives, accompanied by newly recorded voice lines. In the Akaza Arc, viewers can also revisit the fierce battle with Rengoku.

Demon Slayer: Demon Slayer is based on the popular manga that ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020. Set in the Taisho era, in a world where man-eating demons exist, the story follows a boy named Tanjiro Kamado, who joins the Demon Slayer Corps after his family is slaughtered by demons and his sister Nezuko is turned into one. His goal is to avenge his family and turn Nezuko back into a human. The manga has surpassed 220 million copies in circulation worldwide.

The TV anime Demon Slayer: Demon Slayer – Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc aired from April to September 2019 and became a major sensation. The follow-up film, Demon Slayer: Demon Slayer – Mugen Train Arc, was released in October 2020 and became a social phenomenon, earning over 51.7 billion yen in box office revenue worldwide.

Following its success, Demon Slayer was adapted into video games and stage productions. The TV anime continued with the Entertainment District Arc in December 2021,To the Swordsmith Village Arc in April 2023, and the Hashira Training Arc from May to June 2024. Now, the story moves to the big screen with a three-part film adaptation of the Infinity Castle Arc. The first installment, Demon Slayer: Demon Slayer – Infinity Castle Arc: Part 1 – Akaza Returns, depicts the final showdown between the Demon Slayer Corps and their mortal enemies—Muzan Kibutsuji and the Upper Rank demons—set in the demons’ lair, the Infinity Castle. The film is currently playing in 452 theaters (including 393 standard and 59 IMAX screens).
