What is Macross Δ?

Macross Delta (Δ) is a Japanese anime series that aired in 2016 as part of the long-running Macross franchise.Set in 2067, eight years after Macross Frontier, it focuses on the conflict between the Valkyrie fighter squadron and the mysterious Windermere Kingdom.
The story follows Hayate Immelman, Freyja Wion, and Mirage Farina Jenius as they join Delta Flight to combat the Vár Syndrome, a mind-controlling disease.
The tactical music unit Walküre uses live singing to counteract the syndrome and inspire hope during battles.It features transforming fighter jets, large-scale space battles, and themes of music, love, and coexistence.Macross Delta expanded the franchise with new characters, songs, and a vibrant idol group dynamic.

What is Walküre?

Walküre is a tactical music idol group featured in Macross Delta (Δ), formed to combat the Vár Syndrome.The group consists of five members: Mikumo Guynemer, Freyja Wion, Kaname Buccaneer, Makina Nakajima, and Reina Prowler.Their live singing produces fold waves that stabilize people’s minds, preventing them from succumbing to the syndrome.
Walküre performs during real combat missions alongside Delta Flight, blending music and warfare.They became a symbol of hope and unity, significantly influencing both story and battles.The group also exists in real life, performing concerts and releasing music as part of the franchise.

What is Delta Flight?

Delta Flight is a Valkyrie variable fighter squadron in Macross Delta (Δ), tasked with protecting the Brísingr Globular Cluster.
Led by ace pilot Arad Mölders, the team includes members like Messer Ihlefeld, Chuck Mustang, Mirage Farina Jenius, and newcomer Hayate Immelman.
They specialize in high-speed aerial combat using transforming fighter jets known as Valkyries.
Delta Flight works closely with the tactical music unit Walküre to counter the effects of the Vár Syndrome.
They engage in battles against the Windermere Kingdom to defend peace and coexistence among different species.
The squadron’s teamwork and bond with Walküre are central to the series’ story and action sequences.

What is the Kingdom of Windermere?

The Kingdom of Windermere is an alien monarchy featured in Macross Delta (Δ), located in the Brísingr Globular Cluster.Its inhabitants, the Windermerians, possess short lifespans but exceptional physical abilities and a deep connection to fold resonance.
Windermere seeks independence from the New United Government and wages war to liberate the cluster from human control.Key figures include King Heinz Nehrich Windermere, ace pilot Keith Aero Windermere, and Roid Brehm.They use biological weapons to spread the Vár Syndrome, destabilizing enemy forces.Windermere’s conflict with Delta Flight and Walküre drives much of the series’ political and emotional drama.
