Made in Abyss Theatrical Series Announced: Part 1 “Awakening Mystery” Premieres in 2026

The anime Made in Abyss will continue with a brand-new theatrical series adaptation. Part 1, titled Made in Abyss: Mezameru Shinpi (Awakening Mystery), is slated for release in 2026. Animation will once again be produced by Kinema Citrus, the acclaimed studio behind popular works such as The Rising of the Shield Hero and My Happy Marriage.

To mark the announcement, a teaser visual has been revealed, featuring new characters Tepaste and Cravagli at the adventurers’ favorite tavern, Katsuraku-tei.

In celebration of the theatrical series adaptation, the franchise will host its first-ever film concert. The event will feature live orchestral performances conducted by composer Kevin Penkin himself, accompanied by dynamic footage from the series to revisit its journey so far. Vocalist Ko Saito, who performed in the original soundtrack, will appear for live performances, and KIHOW (MYTH & ROID), singer of the theme songs, will also perform a special arrangement exclusive to this event.

Main cast members Miyu Tomita (Riko), Mariya Ise (Reg), and Shiori Izawa (Nanachi) are scheduled to appear, promising a content-packed celebration.

The original manga by Akihito Tsukushi has surpassed 22 million copies in circulation. The series began with a TV anime in 2017, followed by the 2020 theatrical film Dawn of the Deep Soul, and the 2022 TV anime Season 2, The Golden City of the Scorching Sun.
