YOSHIKI Reacts to Dandadan Song: “Doesn’t It Sound Like X JAPAN?” Reveals Contact from Lawyers

YOSHIKI took to his X account to comment on a song featured in episode 18 of the TV anime Dandadan.

In the episode, the character HAYASii performs a fast-paced rock number titled “Hunting Soul.” The song was written, composed, and arranged by Seiichi Nagai, produced by Kensuke Ushio, with vocals by Kishō Taniyama, guitar by Marty Friedman, drums by Chargeeeeee…, and bass by Wakazaemon. A lyric video has also been released. According to the official website, it’s a track created with “a great deal of passion.”

In response, YOSHIKI posted, “What's this.. Doesn't that sound like X JAPAN?” and added, “Huh? I don't know anything about this, is this okay to do? My dear Fans, please tell me what's going on ,” expressing his bewilderment. He also revealed, “It would have been nice if this production team had at least given me a heads-up,” noting that his staff had urgently contacted him.

YOSHIKI said that when he first heard about it, he “laughed because it was amusing,” but added, “Lawyers have also contacted me, saying there could be a possible copyright infringement. I wonder what will happen.” He advised, “Everyone, with things like this, it’s probably best to contact the parties involved in advance.”

Later, YOSHIKI appeared to have obtained more information about the anime and song from the parties involved, posting:
“Since this involves a song managed by Sony Music Publishing, it seems a discussion will soon be held among the relevant parties. I’m an anime fan myself and enjoy works like this, so I hope things move in a positive direction. ”

He also wrote:
“This time, I was surprised by the sudden messages and ended up tweeting about it. Sorry for causing a stir. My apologies.”

In Dandadan, the inclusion of various homages throughout the story is one of the elements that fans find appealing.
