Demon Slayer: Smiling Shinobu Kocho with a Syringe!? Illustration Revealed on Official Overseas SNS
The anime film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle – Part 1: Akaza Returns will premiere in the U.S. on the 12th, and to celebrate, ufotable’s official overseas webshop shared an illustration of Shinobu Kocho smiling while holding a syringe.

The anime Demon Slayer is based on the mega-hit manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020. Set in the Taisho era, where man-eating demons lurk, it follows Tanjiro Kamado, a boy whose family was slaughtered by demons. He joins the Demon Slayer Corps to turn his sister Nezuko, transformed into a demon, back into a human and avenge his family. The manga has sold over 220 million copies worldwide.

The TV anime Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc aired from April to September 2019 and became a sensation, followed by the 2020 film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train, which grossed approximately 51.7 billion yen (over $507 million) globally, becoming a social phenomenon.
Expanding across media and reaching the final battle
The franchise has since expanded into games and stage plays, with further anime adaptations: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Entertainment District Arc in December 2021, To the Swordsmith Village in April 2023, To the Hashira Training from May to June 2024. Now, the three-part film Infinity Castle is in production. The first chapter, Akaza Returns, depicts Tanjiro and the Demon Slayer Corps facing Muzan Kibutsuji and the Upper Rank demons in their final showdown inside the Infinity Castle.
