The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 5 Confirmed! New Teaser Released and KADOKAWA’s First Global Game Project Begins

The production of Season 5 of the TV anime The Rising of the Shield Hero has been confirmed. Alongside the announcement, a teaser visual and special trailer were unveiled. It was also revealed that KADOKAWA will launch its first-ever global game project for PC and smartphones.

In the final episode of Season 4, the special trailer was released, officially announcing the production of Season 5. The footage depicts a mysterious figure seated on a throne, Naofumi Iwatani and his companions fighting amidst swirling dust, and Naofumi showing an anguished expression.

The story follows an ordinary otaku college student, Naofumi Iwatani, who is suddenly summoned to another world. Tasked with the mission of becoming the Shield Hero—one of the Four Cardinal Heroes alongside the Sword, Spear, and Bow Heroes—he must repel the calamities known as the Waves that bring chaos to the world. However, after being betrayed by his allies and losing everything, he rises again from the depths of despair.

Since the anime’s broadcast began in 2019, Season 2 aired in 2022, Season 3 in 2023, and Season 4 in 2025.
