Kaguya sama Love Is War Final Arc Gets New Theatrical Anime Film Greenlit, Aka Akasaka Says It Is New Yet Nostalgic and the Final Kaguya

Aka Akasaka's Full Comment

Kaguya sama Love Is War was a work created together with so many people, and it was the series that made me realize the joy of creating things with others.

For a long time, the anime team and I shared the same hope not simply to make an anime adaptation, but to create something completely new that no one had ever seen before, something we could make together. Whenever I brought this up, the people on site would say, “Yes, let’s do it.” That was about four years ago. Ever since then, I have been thinking about what kind of story would be right.

I kept wondering what kind of extra addition I could make to a story that had already been closed once. It has been a time that feels both incredibly frightening and genuinely fun.

Then one day, a single idea came to me. The moment it did, I knew this was the only option. At the same time, I also thought, “Wow, this is going to be really tough for the anime team.”

We have been working on Kaguya sama Love Is War for about eight years now, and at this point I am asking everyone to take on yet another challenge, so I imagine many of them are holding their heads in their hands. But since this will probably be the last one, I believe they will forgive me for throwing them a slightly unreasonable pitch. That is how much I trust this team.

Something new, yet nostalgic. I hope we can deliver a completely new work that will surely be the very last Kaguya sama.
