PokéPark Kanto Officially Opens: Pikachu and Eevee Join Ribbon Cutting at Pokémon’s First Permanent Outdoor Facility

PokéPark Kanto, the first permanent outdoor facility based on Pokémon, officially opened on February 5 inside Yomiuriland amusement park. A grand opening ceremony was held on the same day, where Pikachu and Eevee took part in a celebratory ribbon cutting.

Grand Opening Ceremony Marks a New Era for Pokémon Experiences

During the ceremony, Kenjiro Ito, Chief Business Officer of The Pokémon Company and Chairman of PokéPark Kanto, Takeshi Mizoguchi, President of Yomiuriland and President of PokéPark Kanto, and Junichi Masuda, Chief Creative Fellow of Pokémon, appeared on stage. Each shared their thoughts on the opening of PokéPark Kanto and spoke about the appeal and vision behind the new facility.

Following their remarks, Norihiko Fukuda, Mayor of Kawasaki City, Katsuhiro Takahashi, Mayor of Inagi City, along with Pikachu and Eevee, joined the stage for a vibrant ribbon cutting ceremony, celebrating the memorable moment.

A Vast New Area Where Pokémon and Trainers Gather

PokéPark Kanto is a completely new area covering approximately 2.6 hectares, created through a large scale renovation of existing facilities at Yomiuriland along with the development of previously unused land. Visitors can experience an adventure through a forest and town inhabited by more than 600 Pokémon, offering a trainers area filled with Pokémon and unforgettable discoveries for all.
