The Irregular at Magic High School Yotsuba Succession Arc Unveils New Footage, Shion Wakayama and Shuichiro Umeda Cast as New Characters

The Irregular at Magic High School Yotsuba Succession Arc has unveiled new footage ahead of its May 8, 2026 theatrical release. Alongside the latest preview, new cast members Shion Wakayama and Shuichiro Umeda have been announced. A special advance ticket bundled with a clear poster and clear card will also be released in Japan.

New Characters Join the Yotsuba Succession Arc

The original series, written by Tsutomu Sato and published under Dengeki Bunko, has surpassed 25 million copies in circulation. The story follows Tatsuya Shiba, known as the so called irregular older brother, and his accomplished younger sister Miyuki Shiba, depicting their school magics journey. The upcoming film adapts the fan favorite Yotsuba Succession Arc.

In the newly released footage, additional characters appear. Shion Wakayama voices Kotona Tsutsumi, a Guardian serving Katsushige Shibata, one of the candidates to become the next head of the Yotsuba family. Shuichiro Umeda plays Kanata Tsutsumi, Kotona younger brother, who also serves as Katsushige Guardian.

The second key visual highlights Tatsuya and Katsushige confronting one another amid intense flashes of light. Miyuki stands to one side, while Kotona and Kanata are positioned opposite them. The tagline reads, Faith and conviction intertwine. The visual conveys the emotions and inner conflicts each character carries.

Advance tickets bundled with a clear poster and clear card will go on sale at participating theaters starting February 27. Priced at 1600 yen including tax, quantities are limited and sales will end once supplies are exhausted.

Recap Series and Story Background

A recap project titled The Irregular at Magic High School in Three Minutes has also begun streaming. Narration is provided by Saori Hayami, the voice of Miyuki Shiba. The first installment Enrollment Arc and the second installment Nine Schools Competition Arc are currently available. The third installment Yokohama Disturbance Arc will be released on February 14, with new installments scheduled weekly every Saturday.

The story is set in the year 2096, nearly a century after magic became established as a real world technology. During the New Year gathering known as the Keishunkai, held by the Yotsuba main family, the next head of the family is appointed. This decision sets Tatsuya and Miyuki on a path that will significantly alter their destinies. The shocking truths revealed in the Yotsuba Succession Arc will finally unfold on the big screen.
