Star Detective Precure Episode 5 Story & Preview Cuts Released: Mikuru Asked to Solve a Ghost Disturbance

The story and preview images for Episode 5 of the new TV anime Star Detective Precure! (JP: 名探偵プリキュア！), the 23rd installment in the long-running Precure franchise, have been revealed. The series is set to begin airing on March 1.

Episode 5 Story

With the new school term beginning, Anna Akechi sees off Mikuru Kobayashi as she starts her second year of middle school. Noticing that it looks like it might rain, Anna decides to bring her an umbrella. At that moment, Jett-senpai asks her to also deliver a brand-new Pre-Kit along the way.

When Anna arrives near the school building, she spots Mikuru happily chatting with her classmates and considers heading back without interrupting her. However, she accidentally bumps into a college student named Mariko Kitamura.

Mariko explains that her younger sister, Keiko, attends the high school division of Makoto Mirai Academy, the same academy as Mikuru. Although Keiko is supposed to be studying abroad in London, there have been frequent sightings of someone who looks exactly like her around town. In fact, Mariko herself saw a person identical to Keiko that very morning.

After hearing the story, Anna confidently declares, “I will solve this!” Using the Pre-Kit Gloss, she disguises herself as a high school student and infiltrates the high school division alone. Meanwhile, Mikuru is summoned by the academy’s chairperson and is asked to resolve a mysterious ghost disturbance that has been occurring in the high school division.

Introduction

Star Detective Precure introduces the first detective themed Precure storyline in the franchise and is set primarily in 1999. The protagonist Anna Akechi is a 14 year old second year middle school student living in Makoto Mirai Town. On her birthday, she encounters a fairy named Pochitan and is guided by a mysterious pendant found in her room, triggering a time slip from the year 2027 back to Makoto Mirai City in 1999.

There, Anna meets another 14 year old girl, Mikuru Kobayashi, who dreams of becoming a great detective. When a series of incidents begin to occur, the two girls find themselves unable to ignore people suffering from stolen treasured possessions. Together, they transform into the Star Detective Precure, solving mysteries with the catchphrase “That mystery will be cured” while protecting smiles through sharp deduction and searching for clues that may allow Anna to return to her original time.
