Drops of God Anime Starring Kazuya Kamenashi Set for Two Consecutive Cours This April, New Cast and PV Revealed

The Drops of God anime is officially set to air for two consecutive cours beginning April 10, bringing the legendary wine drama to television in animated form for the first time.

It has been announced that the television anime Drops of God will premiere on April 10 across TOKYO MX, BS NTV, and Kansai TV, running for two consecutive cours. A key visual has also been unveiled, depicting protagonist Shizuku Kanzaki and Issei Tomine facing one another, with a striking wine glass illustrated behind them. In addition, a promotional video has been released, hinting at the rich and intense battle surrounding the legendary wine known as “Drops of God.”

Five new cast members have also been announced. Yuko Kaida will voice Ryoko Kiryu, Shinshu Fuji will play Shiro Fujieda, Misa Watanabe will portray Maki Saionji, Yuya Uchida will voice Soichiro Mishima, and Jin Urayama will play Robert Doi.

Originally serialized in Morning magazine published by Kodansha from 2004 to 2014, Drops of God tells a human drama centered on the search for the mythical wine known as “Drops of God.” Its accessible explanations made wine approachable even for beginners, helping to spark a global wine boom. At the same time, its diverse and accurate depictions of wine earned high praise from industry professionals including wine producers. The manga has surpassed 15 million copies in circulation worldwide across the entire series.

In 2009, a live action drama adaptation aired on Nippon TV. In 2023, an international drama series titled Drops of God, jointly produced by Japan, France, and the United States, began streaming its first season. Season two has been streaming since January 2026.

This marks the first television anime adaptation of the series. Kazuya Kamenashi, who portrayed Shizuku Kanzaki in the 2009 live action drama, returns to reprise the role as the protagonist in the anime version.
