[Obituary] Manga Writer Majuro Kaname Passes Away While Writing Chapter 14 of “Doku wo Kurawaba Sakura Made” – Series to Conclude with Chapter 13

Majuro Kaname, the manga writer behind Doku wo Kurawaba Sakura Made (JP: 毒を喰らわばサクラまで), has passed away in February 2026. The announcement was made on March 17 by the editorial department of Monthly Shonen Magazine published by Kodansha.

Majuro Kaname Passes Away During Production of Chapter 14

According to the editorial team of Monthly Shonen Magazine, Majuro Kaname passed away in February 2026 while working on the original manuscript for Chapter 14 of the manga Doku wo Kurawaba Sakura Made.

In an official statement, the editors wrote that the news came suddenly while the author was still writing the next chapter. The editorial department expressed deep sorrow over the unexpected loss.


Career and Works in Monthly Shonen Magazine Media

The statement also highlighted Majuro Kaname’s career and contributions to Kodansha publications. The author previously serialized works such as Can You Just Die, My Darling? and Goddarian on platforms including Magazine R and Getsu Maga Kichi.

At the time of passing, Kaname was writing the story for Doku wo Kurawaba Sakura Made, which was being serialized on Getsu Maga Kichi. The editorial team expressed sincere gratitude for the author’s long standing contributions to the various media platforms associated with Monthly Shonen Magazine and offered their heartfelt condolences.


Final Chapter and Upcoming Volume Release

The editorial department also reported that the funeral was held privately with close family members.

The original story for Doku wo Kurawaba Sakura Made had been written up to Chapter 13. Respecting the wishes of Kaname’s family and the manga’s illustrator Takahiro Oba, the editorial team will complete the manuscript up to Chapter 13 and deliver it to readers.

As a result, the series will officially conclude with Chapter 13, which will serve as the final chapter of Volume 2. A collected edition containing the chapters through the final Chapter 13 is planned for release.

Further details, including the release date of Volume 2, will be announced through the official X account of Getsu Maga Kichi.

Although the series will end earlier than originally planned, the editorial department expressed deep appreciation to readers who have supported the work throughout its run.
