Shangri-La Frontier Season 3 Set for January 2027 Premiere as New Visual Revealed and First Game Announced for 2026 Release

The TV anime Shangri-La Frontier Season 3 is officially set to premiere in January 2027, with a newly released visual highlighting the next stage of the story. In addition, the franchise’s first game adaptation has been confirmed for release in 2026.

The game, titled Shangri-La Frontier: The Seven Colossi, marks the series’ first entry into the gaming space. The original manga, serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine, achieved a historic four-category sweep in reader surveys and has surpassed 16 million copies in circulation worldwide.

A Near-Future Setting Where VR Games Dominate

Set in a slightly futuristic world where traditional display-based games are considered retro, the story follows Rakuro Hizutome, known as Sunraku, a “trash game hunter” who has devoted himself to clearing notoriously flawed games.

He sets his sights on the massively popular “god-tier” game Shangri-La Frontier, which boasts over 30 million players. The series unfolds as a high-quality adventure blending gaming and fantasy elements.

The first season aired from October 2023 to March 2024, followed by the second season from October 2024 to March 2025. The highly anticipated third season will begin broadcasting in January 2027.

New Visual Teases the Next Arc

Who are these mysterious characters, and how are they connected to Rakuro and Sunraku? As the story shifts temporarily to the GGC stage, the clash between the American team “STAR RAIN” and the Japanese team “Nitro Squad” is about to begin, continuing directly from the dramatic ending of Season 2.
