A Certain Item of Dark Side Anime Set for Fall 2026 Release with Character Designs and Teaser PV Revealed

The TV anime A Certain Item of Dark Side, a spin off of the Toaru series, is set to air in Fall 2026. Alongside the announcement, a teaser PV was released along with character design visuals for five key characters: Shizuri Mugino, Rikou Takitsubo, Frenda Seivelun, Saiai Kinuhata, and Chōbi Hanano.

The Toaru series originates from the massively popular entertainment novel A Certain Magical Index, which has surpassed 31 million copies in circulation. This new spin off focuses on the lives of girls operating within the dark underbelly of Academy City.

Teaser PV Highlights Intense Battles and Dual Lives

The teaser PV showcases both the everyday lives and fierce battles of the four main members. Saiai Kinuhata, voiced by Chinatsu Akasaki, displays a carefree attitude while effortlessly suppressing gunfire with her speed. Frenda Seivelun, voiced by Maaya Uchida, contrasts her cute appearance with dynamic combat scenes, delivering powerful kicks while remarking on her bad luck.

Rikou Takitsubo, voiced by Aya Suzaki, quietly expresses her loyalty, while Shizuri Mugino, voiced by Ami Koshimizu, exudes overwhelming power and intensity as the team leader. The PV culminates with a striking scene of Chobi Hanano, who appears frightened and tearful as she introduces herself in a trembling voice.
