“The latest animated installment of Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table (JP: 死亡遊戯で飯を食う。), based on the light novel by Yushi Ukai, has been announced. Titled Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table 44: CLOUDY BEACH, the film will receive a limited two-week theatrical run in Japan starting Friday, July 10, 2026.”

The original anime concluded its final streaming episode on March 18, 2026. This new project marks the latest visual adaptation of the popular series published under MF Bunko J.

The series originally won the Excellence Award at the 18th MF Bunko J Light Novel Newcomer Awards and was also ranked No.1 in the New Titles category of Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! 2024 (published by Takarajimasha).

Set in a deadly game where players can earn prize money if they survive, but may lose their lives even with perfect preparation, the story follows a brutal murder game that exists on the edge of life and death.

This new installment depicts the 44th game of Yuki, a player who survives in this twisted world by winning these games and making a living from them.
