Fist of the North Star Returns After 18 Years with New Anime, Kenshiro Joins Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves Collaboration

The new anime Fist of the North Star will begin airing and streaming on April 10 on TOKYO MX, BS11, and Prime Video every Friday at 25:00. To celebrate this release, Kenshiro has been confirmed as an additional character in Season Pass 2 of the fighting game Fatal Fury City of the Wolves.

The legendary martial artist who survived the post apocalyptic world now descends upon South Town, the setting of Fatal Fury City of the Wolves. Fans are eagerly anticipating how Kenshiro’s overwhelming presence will integrate with the game’s battle system.

New Anime Marks 40th Anniversary of the Original Manga

The new anime is produced to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the original Fist of the North Star manga. This marks the first new anime project in 18 years since the 2008 film Fist of the North Star The Legend of Kenshiro. With a new staff and cast, the adaptation aims to faithfully recreate the original story using the latest animation technology.

Originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1983 to 1988, the story is set in a post nuclear war world where civilization has collapsed and violence reigns. It follows Kenshiro, successor of Hokuto Shinken, as he grows into a savior burdened with love and sorrow.

The series remains beloved worldwide, with over 100 million copies of the manga in circulation. It has also been adapted into multiple TV anime series, theatrical films, and even a musical, becoming a cultural phenomenon. The franchise celebrated its 40th anniversary on September 13, 2023.

Episode 1 “Cry of the Heart” Synopsis

Set in 199X, the world is engulfed in nuclear flames, and humanity appears to have perished. However, survivors remain, fighting over scarce water and food.

In this violent era, a lone man struggles across the wasteland. Seeking water, he enters a village but is captured by its vigilante group. When the village elder examines him, seven scars are revealed on his chest.

Episode 2 “Tomorrow from Today” Synopsis

Kenshiro, successor of Hokuto Shinken, travels the wasteland with Bat when they encounter an elderly man being chased by a gang riding armed buggies.

The gang is after the precious bag of seeds the old man carries. Ignoring Bat’s attempt to stop him, Kenshiro moves to save the man. At that moment, an arrow fired from a crossbow by the gang’s leader, Spade, targets Kenshiro.
