Uma Musume x Midori no Makibao Collaboration Video Revealed with Opening Recreation

Uma Musume collaboration with Midori no Makibao has been officially unveiled, featuring a special video that recreates the iconic opening sequence. The collaboration video is now available on the official Uma Musume YouTube channel.

This collaboration brings together the cross media project Uma Musume Pretty Derby and the classic anime Midori no Makibao. The year 2026 marks a milestone for both franchises, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Midori no Makibao, the 5th anniversary of the Uma Musume game, and also the Year of the Horse in Japan.

To commemorate this special year, the collaboration showcases a unique concept centered around “O,” referencing both Makibao and the “O” featured in multiple Uma Musume character names.

In Japanese horse naming conventions, “O” is often used to represent “king,” making it a symbolic and widely recognized element in racehorse names.
The result is described as a “white miracle” collaboration that unites these beloved horse themed characters.

Opening Recreation Featuring Iconic Characters

The released video recreates the opening sequence of Midori no Makibao, bringing together Makibao alongside popular Uma Musume characters such as Tokai Teio, TM Opera O, Sakura Bakushin O, Sakura Chiyono O, Sakura Chitose O, and Calstone Light O. The characters are depicted running together in a dynamic and nostalgic sequence unique to this crossover.

In addition, a new television commercial has begun airing. The commercial pays homage to the ending theme of Midori no Makibao, further deepening the connection between the two works.

Uma Musume Pretty Derby is a widely popular cross media franchise that personifies real racehorses such as Special Week, Silence Suzuka, and Tokai Teio. The series spans games, manga, and anime adaptations, gaining strong popularity across multiple platforms.

The anime’s first season aired from April to June 2018, followed by the second season in early 2021 and the third season in late 2023. The mobile game launched in February 2021, and the franchise’s first theatrical film premiered in May 2024. The anime Cinderella Gray aired its first cour from April to June 2025, with the second cour broadcast from October to December.
