Takehiko Inoue Draws Shin and Ou Ki from Kingdom, Calls It “Deeply Moving” in 20th Anniversary Tribute

The official X account of Social Kingdom Sai-en shared a newly released illustration by Takehiko Inoue. The artwork features Xin (Shin) and General Wang Yi (Ouki) from the manga Kingdom, depicted with intense detail and battle-worn expressions.

Inoue commented, “Congratulations on the 20th anniversary of Kingdom’s serialization. It has been over 20 years since I was shown the original concept name drafts before the series began. It feels deeply moving for me as well. Please take good care of your health and enjoy the journey ahead.”


Fans React to the Powerful Illustration

The released illustration showcases Shin and Ouki covered in scars, exuding a powerful presence. Online reactions poured in, with fans saying things like “This is incredible, seriously amazing,” “The overwhelming artistry gave me chills,” and “Inoue’s version of Shin and Ouki is on another level.” Some even commented that the style evokes the atmosphere of Vagabond.

About Kingdom

Kingdom has been serialized in Weekly Young Jump since 2006. Set in China during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States period before the Common Era, the story follows Shin, a young warrior aiming to become a great general, and a young king striving to unify China.
