Sword Art Online Announces Yuna First Live on April 29, 2026, the Same Date as the In-Story Concert

The official account of the anime Sword Art Online revealed that “Yuna First Live” will take place on April 29, 2026, aligning with the date the concert was held within the story of the 2017 theatrical film Sword Art Online the Movie Ordinal Scale. A breaking video was also released alongside the announcement.

According to the official X account, the event titled “Yuna First Live 2026.4.29 WED 17:00 (JST)” will be streamed on Aniplex’s YouTube channel starting at 5:00 PM. The announcement emphasized that the day of Yuna’s concert in the story will finally intersect with reality.



About Yuna and Official Statement on Cast Change

Yuna is a popular AR idol character introduced in Sword Art Online the Movie Ordinal Scale, known as a “songstress” within the story. The character was originally voiced by Sayaka Kanda, who passed away in 2021.

In 2023, the Sword Art Online official team announced a cast change for Yuna moving forward. The committee released the following statement:

“The Sword Art Online committee hopes that as the series continues for the next 10 and 20 years, Yuna will also continue to move forward together with Sword Art Online without stopping. At the same time, we believe that no one can replace the songs performed by Yuna.”

“However, in order for the Yuna portrayed by Ms. Kanda to continue walking alongside the series in the same way as before, we held careful discussions within the SAO production committee, including the original creator of Sword Art Online, Reki Kawahara.”

“As a result, while preserving the songs that Ms. Kanda has performed, we have decided that when Yuna appears in future new stories, her voice will be delivered with a new cast. We would like to inform you that the successor has been selected. Successor cast: Risa Matsuda.”

The committee clarified that while the songs performed by Kanda will remain unchanged, the voice cast will transition to a new actor for future appearances.
