The anime adaptation brings together the same powerful production team behind the Fullmetal Alchemist anime series, which aired and was released between 2003 and 2011. It is produced through the collaboration of Square Enix, Aniplex, and BONES.
Overview

Gabby (JP:ガブちゃん, Gabu-chan) is a Tsugai user affiliated with the Kagemori family in Daemons of the Shadow Realm. Despite her childlike appearance, she claims to be older than Yuru.
Together with Asa, she works as an assistant to Hikaru Kagemori, the eldest son of the Kagemori family and a manga artist. Gabby greatly enjoys Hikaru’s manga because, in her words, “they are happy stories without bad people appearing in them.” However, her own drawing skills are not particularly strong.
Appearance and Personality

■Appearance
Gabby wears her hair in braids and is often seen wearing hooded clothing.
■Personality
Gabby possesses extremely combat oriented Tsugai and has a remarkable tolerance for pain. She also shows absolutely no hesitation when it comes to killing.
However, she follows a personal rule of never harming children, even if they are enemies. This belief is thought to stem from her own past and Asa’s circumstances.
She is deeply attached to her Tsugai. Gabby strongly despises people who treat Tsugai carelessly or view them as little more than livestock. At one point, she even threatened someone by making it appear as though her contracted Tsugai would crush the person’s head after they showed disrespect toward Tsugai.
Background

According to Gabby herself, she has “grown used to pain,” suggesting that she hides a harsh and tragic past.
Voice actress Misaki Kuno has revealed that author Hiromu Arakawa privately shared major background details about Gabby with her, including important settings that had not yet appeared in the original manga. Kuno stated that she built her performance around these undisclosed details, which remain unknown to the public.
Abilities

■Tsugai: Gabriel
Gabriel is a Tsugai that takes the form of a massive upper and lower jaw pair covered with countless eyes.
Although normally small in size, it can grow enormous during battle, becoming large enough to swallow a human whole. Not only can it easily tear apart ordinary Tsugai, but its enamel like teeth are durable enough to withstand direct hits from bullets and even grenades.
When Gabby makes a biting gesture with one hand while saying “gobble,” the target is sliced apart. Since Gabriel itself consists only of jaws, the severed body parts remain where they fall rather than being consumed.
The individual names of the pair are “Joe William Frederic Gabriel I” and “Kirk Douglas Auldglaive Gabriel II.”
Gabriel is also surprisingly skilled at drawing. During the pursuit of Yuru, it shared information by creating highly detailed ukiyo e style portraits of Yuru and Hidari and Migi.
Trivia

■Origin of Gabriel’s Formal Names
The first names “Joe” and “Kirk” are believed to reference the Japanese pronunciations of “上, Jo (upper)” and “下, ka (lower)” . Some fans have also theorized that the names are connected to the word “jaw.”
■Coloring
When creating T shirts for a manga volume collaboration campaign, author Hiromu Arakawa had apparently not yet decided on Gabby’s official color scheme. However, a color reference sheet somehow already existed despite this.
Many fans believe Gabby’s design and coloring were inspired by Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist.
