Scum of the Brave Episode 17 Story & Preview Cuts Released: Lord Storm Coffin Vanishes as Turf Wars Erupt Across Tokyo

The story and preview images for Episode 17 of the TV anime Scum of the Brave (JP: 勇者のクズ) have been revealed. This episode is scheduled to air on Sunday, May 10 at 12:55 AM (JST), and will later be available on various international streaming platforms.

Episode 17 Story

Takamiya Kiyoto had been conducting E4 research and development at Half Dragon. Funded by the organization, Lord Cracking Sacred Map repeatedly carried out E4 adaptation experiments inside the castle.

Meanwhile, Yashiro learns about the shocking incident that happened to Aki Jōgamine seven years ago. After returning to Tokyo, Yashiro and his group arrive in a city that has turned into a battlefield.

With Lord Storm Coffin gone, other Demon Lords seeking to expand their influence begin launching conflicts one after another. Yashiro tells his disciples:
“Now’s our chance to make money.”

Introduction

“Being a hero is a job for the lowest kind of scum.”

In the mid-21st century, Tokyo’s criminal underworld is ruled by mafias who have become “Demon Kings” through ether (magical power) enhancement surgery. The bounty hunters who take down these Demon Kings are known as “heroes.”

Heroes enhance their ether abilities with a drug called E3 in order to stand against the Demon Kings. Killing is legalized for them, turning the role of a hero into a profession that is, quite literally, one of murder.

Amid this, a self-proclaimed “disciple” suddenly shows up at the door of Yashiro, a freelance hero known as the “Grim Reaper.” She is Jōgamine, a high school girl training to become a hero. Though reluctant, Yashiro takes her in, only to find himself dragged into a series of thoroughly rotten incidents.
