Tatsuya Kitani Comment

Tatsuya Kitani
“When a person dies, the body disappears into nothingness, but the things inside the mind and heart can remain. We leave things behind because we exist, because there is a world we have seen, and because we want someone else to understand it. That written trace is what we call a will.
Creative activity, meanwhile, is a scream declaring, ‘I am here. I was here.’ It is an act carried out by people who want to leave a version of themselves engraved within their works somewhere in the corner of the world. Of course, I want people a thousand years from now to know who I was, and creation is perhaps the only thing that can make that feel possible. But at its core, creation is about throwing every part of your current self onto the page before you.
In other words, creation is a will that continues to be overwritten and updated for as long as we live. That is the kind of song this is.”
