Witch Hat Atelier Episode 8 Story & Preview Cuts Released: Will Coco's Memories Be Erased?

The story and preview images for Episode 8 of the TV anime Witch Hat Atelier (JP: とんがり帽子のアトリエ) have been revealed. This episode will air in Japan on Friday, May 25 at 11:00 PM (JST), and will later be available on various international streaming platforms.

Episode 8 Story

Coco and Agott successfully rescue Kustas, who was caught in a landslide. However, Coco's magic unleashes a power far beyond expectations, transforming the entire surrounding area into sand. Easthies of the Magic Security Council (Knights Moralis), who rushes to the scene, determines that forbidden magic has been used. He detains the two young witches and prepares to erase Coco's memories.

Just in the nick of time, Coco and Agott are saved by Richeh and Tetia. Although the arrival of Qifrey ultimately resolves the crisis without further incident, Qifrey notices that the true cause of the anomaly lies within the magical ink that Coco used.

"Magic"—it is crucial for people to live an abundant life—a handy miracle.
However, witches are the only ones who can cast magic,
and they must not be seen by ordinary people when casting.
That is the rule of this world.

Yet, Coco, a young girl living in a small village helping her mother with daily chores,
has always dreamed of becoming a witch since childhood.

One day, when a young witch named Qifery visits the village,
Coco secretly watches him using magic and uncovers a great secret.

It was the "absolute secret" that the witches kept from the world,
that anyone could use magic if they draw a Casting Seal with special tools. Born as an Outsider,
Coco becomes Qifery's apprentice and begins studying magic.
As she learns and grows together with her fellow apprentices in the atelier,
she gradually steps into the secretive world of witches.

This is the story of children who encounter despair, yet reach out toward hope.
