"Dandadan" PV Released: Seiko, Aira, and Gigi Voiced by Nana Mizuki, Ayane Sakura, and Kaito Ishikawa
The second key visual and PV for the TV anime "Dandadan," which will begin airing in October, have been released. Additionally, the new cast members have been announced: Nana Mizuki as Hoshiko, Ayane Sakura as Aira Shiratori, and Kaito Ishikawa as Jin Enjoji.
In the newly released second PV, you can see and hear the characters Hoshiko voiced by Nana Mizuki, Aira voiced by Ayane Sakura, and Gigi voiced by Kaito Ishikawa in action. Hoshiko, who is almost too sexy, Aira, who proclaims herself a "beautiful girl," and Jin, who combines a carefree attitude with good looks, all leave a strong impression.
"Dandadan" is a non-stop occult battle and romantic comedy involving a high school girl who believes in ghosts but not aliens and her classmate, a boy who is an occult maniac but doesn't believe in ghosts. The story follows the two as they encounter the yokai "Turbo Granny" and are cursed, leading them to face various supernatural events. Serialized in "Shonen Jump+" since April 2021, the manga is popular for its mix of "occult," "battle," "action," "romantic comedy," and "youth" elements, with cumulative sales of the comics exceeding 3.2 million copies. The author is also known for having been an assistant to Tatsuki Fujimoto of "Chainsaw Man" and Yuji Kaku of "Hell's Paradise."
Nana Mizuki's Comment – What do you find appealing about this work?
"It's a work filled with things that can't be seen but are believed to exist, things that are scary but irresistibly attractive... it tugs at people's hearts in various ways! The lively interactions of the charming characters with their intriguing contrasts unfold pleasantly, stimulating your brain (laughs). Once you start reading, you get hooked!"
Your enthusiasm for playing Hoshiko?
"Hoshiko is always nonchalant yet watches over Momo with deeper love than anyone else. She's incredibly strong, laid-back, and has a sharp tongue (laughs), but she's also very playful. I enjoyed playing her to the fullest in each aspect! I hope you'll fully enjoy the multi-faceted Hoshiko!"
Ayane Sakura's Comment – What do you find appealing about this work?
"I was endlessly fascinated by the dynamic and static scenes in the original manga. The blend of an eerie, physiological discomfort and the uplifting catharsis of 'I'm glad I read this' creates a comfortable chaos that stays with you. I was a bit anxious about the high difficulty of adapting it into animation, but I'm very excited about the chemistry with Science SARU!"
Your enthusiasm for playing Aira Shiratori?
"The characters are all unique and complex, making it a rewarding challenge for an actor. Aira is just as eccentric as the others, but I'm having fun portraying her. Look forward to seeing how those iconic scenes from the manga are animated!"
Kaito Ishikawa's Comment – What do you find appealing about this work?
"The ease of understanding for those who aren't familiar with urban legends, yokai, monsters, and the occult, and the dialogues that make you want to join in on the characters' interactions. Most of all, the exciting action scenes keep you on the edge of your seat. The relationship between Momo and Okarun, with its ups and downs, is also something you can't take your eyes off."
Your enthusiasm for playing Jin Enjoji?
"I hope to bring out not only his usual playful and cheerful side but also his underlying kindness and seriousness. I'll give my all to portray the whirlwind of events Gigi brings along!"
