Captain Tsubasa Rising Sun FINALS Goes on Temporary Hiatus After Reaching Milestone Chapter 100

The latest work in the Captain Tsubasa series, Captain Tsubasa Rising Sun FINALS by creator Yoichi Takahashi, will temporarily go on hiatus after reaching its milestone 100th chapter. The announcement was made through the series’ official X account.

Chapter 100, released today, May 26, features a color double page opening spread and an expanded 51 page installment.

The official X account posted a notice titled “Announcement of Temporary Hiatus for Captain Tsubasa Rising Sun FINALS.” The message stated, “Thank you for always reading Captain Tsubasa Rising Sun FINALS. Since the name format serialization began in 2024, the series has continued at a weekly pace, but at this milestone of reaching 100 chapters, we will temporarily pause serialization.”

Regarding future updates, the notice continued, “The schedule for the resumption of serialization will be announced through this official X account and Captain Tsubasa WORLD. We apologize to readers who have been looking forward to the series every week, but we kindly ask you to wait for the story, which will become even more exciting.”

A Final Chapter Told in Name Format

Captain Tsubasa Rising Sun FINALS has been serialized since July 2024 on the website Captain Tsubasa WORLD and the manga app YanJan. The project began after the regular manga serialization ended in April 2024, due to Takahashi’s declining physical strength and changes in his working environment, which had made it increasingly difficult for him to continue drawing the manga.

Takahashi decided to preserve the story through to the final episode of Captain Tsubasa. As the final chapter of the series, Captain Tsubasa Rising Sun FINALS continues the story in a weekly serialization drawn in pencil as a name format, following the events of the manga.

The story follows the fierce semifinal match at the Madrid Olympics. The U23 Japan national team, led by Tsubasa Ozora, faces Spain, a team aiming for the championship with the angel Michael at its center. The match has entered the second half, with the story depicting which side will advance to the final.

In Chapter 50, it became a major topic of discussion when Sanae, Tsubasa Ozora’s wife, formerly Sanae Nakazawa, gave birth to twin sons.
