The Gender of Mona Lisa Anime Adaptation Announced
Originally created as a manga series, The Gender of Mona Lisa has surpassed 1 million copies in circulation. The story is set in a world where children are born without a defined gender. Around the age of 12, their bodies begin changing toward the gender they desire, and by 14 they ultimately become either male or female.
A Coming of Age Story About Identity and Love
The series follows Hinase Arima, the only person who has remained genderless even after turning 18. While struggling with uncertainty about their identity, Hinase spends ordinary days alongside childhood friends Ritsu Kaga and Shiori Takayama.
That quiet routine is disrupted when both friends confess their feelings, setting Hinase on a journey of self discovery, identity, and romance.
