Kamen Rider MY-TH Faces the Twelve Zodiacs Alliance, Awakened After 100 Years, With a Cat as Its Leader: Keisuke Higashi Says It “Makes You Want to Theorize”

Kamen Rider MY-TH, the newest entry in the Kamen Rider franchise, will premiere in September on the TV Asahi network, airing every Sunday at 9:00 a.m. A production announcement press conference was held in Tokyo on August 4.

Beginning with Kamen Rider Zero One in the first year of the Reiwa era and continuing through the currently airing Kamen Rider Zeztz, the Reiwa Kamen Riders have vividly defined this new era. Kamen Rider MY-TH will follow in their footsteps as the franchise’s newest hero.

Kamen Rider MY-TH is the first lead Kamen Rider in the franchise’s history to feature a mouse motif. As with the previous series, Kamen Rider Zeztz, he wears his transformation belt on his chest and transforms by loading an egg shaped item called a Ride Egg.

The latest cast announcement also revealed that MY-TH will face mysterious monsters known as Fukashigi, which attack and devour humans. Sora Otosumi, also known as Kamen Rider MY-TH, fights to protect people from the Fukashigi.

The Earthly Branches Alliance Awakens After 100 Years

MY-TH is distinguished by his silver body and clear blue eyes. The red cat Rider opposing him is Kamen Rider Maou, while the black cat Rider is Kamen Rider Rid.

Unlike MY-TH, who wears his transformation belt across his chest, Maou and the other Kamen Riders of the Chinese Zodiac Alliance wear their belts around their waists.

The Earthly Branches Alliance is an organization that awakened from a century long slumber to fight the Fukashigi. The Earthly Branches are an ancient Chinese concept used to represent years, months, times and directions.

In addition to the previously announced Kamuri Minetaka, also known as Kamen Rider Maou and played by Keisuke Higashi, the newly revealed members are Tigre, also known as Kamen Rider Tigre and played by Shunya Kaneko, Datt, also known as Kamen Rider Datt and played by Nanako Ando, and Jyao, also known as Kamen Rider Jyao and played by Kosei Tsubokura.

Higashi, who portrays the imposing leader of the Earthly Branches Alliance, explained, “We have awakened after 100 years to defeat the Fukashigi and protect people. As you can tell from the names, the Earthly Branches are involved, and that is another element I hope viewers will look forward to.”

Speaking about a cat leading the alliance, Higashi said, “I thought it was interesting. Cats and mice have a longstanding rivalry across countless stories. I think the series has themes that will make viewers want to develop their own theories.”

Characters

Sora Otosumi and Kamen Rider MY-TH
Played by Ikuho Akiya

Sora transforms into Kamen Rider MY-TH to protect Yuna Mizuki, the young lady he has known since childhood. He is a Meister whose family has served the Mizuki household for generations.

He can handle everything from cooking and cleaning to repairs and holds numerous qualifications. Although he sometimes responds sarcastically to Yuna’s requests, he ultimately agrees to everything she asks. He does not worry about small details, but he cannot resist his favorite food, cheese.

Having fought the Fukashigi since childhood, Sora has extensive experience and exceptionally high combat intelligence. Unlike the Kamen Riders of the Earthly Branches Alliance, he transforms using a belt worn across his chest.

Tatsuomi Asao
Played by Hayate Ataka

Tatsuomi is Yuna Mizuki’s private tutor. He meets Sora and the others after becoming caught up in a battle between MY-TH and a Fukashigi.

Although he was originally hired as Yuna’s tutor, circumstances also lead him to serve as an outside adviser to the Fukashigi Incident Research Club that Yuna established. He is dependable and often looks after those around him.

His serious personality usually clashes with Sora’s. However, when the two manage to work in sync, they can display outstanding teamwork.

Yuna Mizuki
Played by Riko Horikawa

Yuna is the daughter of the Mizuki family. Although she is a modern high school student, she is firmly determined to fight the Fukashigi alongside Sora for the future of humanity.

She established the Fukashigi Incident Research Club at her school and investigates incidents caused by the monsters. However, she has become so focused on her investigations that she has neglected her studies.

Kamuri Minetaka and Kamen Rider Maou
Played by Keisuke Higashi

Kamuri is the leader of the Earthly Branches Alliance, an organization that awakened after 100 years to fight the Fukashigi. He represents the cat within the alliance.

He has the charisma needed to unite its highly unconventional members, although he also has a capricious side. Kamuri alone uses a special transformation belt to become Kamen Rider Maou. His strength places him in a class of his own among the alliance’s members.

Tigre and Kamen Rider Tigre
Played by Shunya Kaneko

Tigre represents the tiger within the Earthly Branches Alliance and transforms into Kamen Rider Tigre.

He is highly perceptive and serves as a dependable older brother figure. However, because fighting the Fukashigi is a matter of life and death, he can sometimes be severe. He and Kamuri are longtime friends who have supported one another for many years.

Datt and Kamen Rider Datt
Played by Nanako Ando

Datt represents the rabbit within the Earthly Branches Alliance and transforms into Kamen Rider Datt.

Her exceptional hearing allows her to detect the appearance of the Fukashigi. Confident in her speed, she constantly measures her time using a pocket watch. She is deeply devoted to Kamuri.

Jyao and Kamen Rider Jyao
Played by Kosei Tsubokura

Jyao represents the snake within the Earthly Branches Alliance and transforms into Kamen Rider Jyao.

He possesses formidable combat abilities. By attacking continuously with his sickle and the longest tail of any alliance member, he gives the Fukashigi no opportunity to fight back. He believes that strength is everything and has sworn loyalty to Kamuri.
