LIAR GAME Season 2 Announced with Commemorative Illustration and Cast Comments

A second season for the TV anime LIAR GAME has been officially announced. To mark the announcement, a celebratory illustration by character designer Kei Tsuchiya and comment interviews from the four main cast members have been released.

Additionally, a serialized interview with original creator Shinobu Kaitani is currently available on the official anime website. In the fifth installment, Kaitani reflects on Season 1 and the "2nd Revival Round" covered in Episodes 20–26 while sharing behind-the-scenes insights from the manga's original serialization.

Furthermore, free full-series marathons of Season 1 will stream on ABEMA and Niconico Live. On ABEMA, the marathon will run on October 10 from 7:00 PM to October 11 at 8:00 AM, and on October 11 from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM. On Niconico Live, Episodes 1–13 will stream on October 17 from 7:00 PM to 12:40 AM, followed by Episodes 14–26 on October 18 from 7:00 PM to 12:40 AM.

LIAR GAME follows college student Nao Kanzaki, who is unexpectedly dragged into the "Liar Game"—a high-stakes game of deception to seize massive sums of money—after receiving 100 million yen and a mysterious invitation. Incapable of doubting others, the "foolishly honest" Nao falls into a desperate crisis right at the start. She turns to Shinichi Akiyama, a brilliant former con artist who was recently released from prison.

Armed with Akiyama's sharp insight and overwhelming intellect, Nao steps into the center of this bizarre game. A psychological suspense and mind battle probing human nature: what will an honest person see in a world full of liars?

Based on Shinobu Kaitani's masterpiece suspense manga serialized in Weekly Young Jump from 2005 to 2015, the TV anime was produced to celebrate the manga's 20th anniversary. The franchise has seen various adaptations over the years, including a live-action drama starring Erika Toda and Shota Matsuda in 2007, a feature film in 2010, and a stage play in 2023.
