Live-Action SAKAMOTO DAYS Movie Starring Ren Meguro to Stream Globally on Prime Video

The live-action film adaptation of SAKAMOTO DAYS, starring Ren Meguro of Snow Man, will stream globally and exclusively on Prime Video starting October 30. Ahead of its streaming debut, digital purchase and rental options became available on September 29.

Directed by Yuichi Fukuda and based on the manga by Yuto Suzuki, the action film premiered in theaters in April 2026, pulling in over 2.03 million moviegoers and exceeding 2.81 billion yen in box office revenue. As of August 2026, the original manga has published 28 volumes with over 18 million copies in circulation.

Meguro plays Taro Sakamoto, a hitman once feared as the greatest of all time. After falling in love at first sight with Aoi, a convenience store worker, Sakamoto retired, married, and now runs Sakamoto Shoten with his wife and daughter. Though now plump and devoid of his former hitman appearance, his peaceful family life is disrupted when a 1-billion-yen bounty is placed on his head. To protect his loved ones, Sakamoto confronts a barrage of assassins while upholding his strict "no-killing" oath.

Meguro portrays two distinct forms of the character: Sakamoto's plump, estimated 140-kilogram everyday look, and his drastically slimmed-down appearance when he gets serious. Fumiya Takahashi co-stars as Sakamoto's partner Shin Asakura, alongside Aya Ueto as his wife Aoi. The star-studded ensemble cast also features Mayu Yokota, Junki Totsuka, Akihisa Shiono, Keisuke Watanabe, Takumi Kitamura, Yusei Yagi, Meru Nukumi, Shinya Kote, Hinako Sakurai, Shintaro Anzai, Koji Kato, Kenjiro Tsuda, Tsuyoshi Muro, Jiro Sato, Shin Takuma, and Jun Shison.
