Firefly Wedding Gets a Live Action Adaptation in 2027, Announced After Anime Premiere

Firefly Wedding, the manga by Oreco Tachibana, will receive a live action adaptation airing on the Fuji TV network in 2027. Tachibana, also known for the manga Promise Cinderella, created the original work. Set during the Meiji era as Japan undergoes modernization, the story depicts an obsessive, forbidden love between Satoko, a young woman from a distinguished family who dreams of marrying into a prestigious household and making her father proud, and an assassin who adores her.

Surprise Announcement After the Anime Premiere

The anime adaptation began airing on October 9. Immediately after its first episode ended, a promotional video unexpectedly appeared with the announcement, “Live action adaptation confirmed for 2027.” The unusual development prompted a wave of surprise and delight on social media.

Following the announcement, Tachibana expressed her excitement: “I am already very excited to see how the characters I have drawn will live and move in the real world. There will be some differences from the original manga in the story and how it is presented, so I hope you will enjoy it as a new version of Firefly Wedding that offers something unique to live action.”

Further information, including the cast, will be revealed in the coming months.
